The results of our four-year collaboration with physicist and HHMI investigator Michelle Wang (Cornell University) are out in Cell! Using optical traps and biochemistry, we show that Mfd is an autonomous translocase, which acts upon RNA polymerases via a release-and-catch-up mechanism. Thank you to our collaborators and congratulations to the Deaconescu lab members that worked on this project: Maggie and Sarah!
